Applied voltage draws a DNA strand and surrounding ionic solution through a pore of nanometer dimensions. The various DNA units in the strand block ion flow by differing amounts. In turn, by measuring these differences in ion current, scientists can detect the sequence of DNA units. Atomistic scale simulations performed on the NASA Columbia supercomputer (SGI Altix-3000) allow detailed study of DNA translocation to enhance the abilities of these sequencers. Solid-state nanopores offer a better temporal control of the translocation of DNA, and a more robust template for nano-engineering than biological ion channels. The chemistry of solid-state nanopores can be more easily tuned to increase the signal resolution. These advantages will results in real-time genome sequencing. Potential applications for NASA missions including astronaut health, life detection and decoding of various genomes.

According to the analysis nano technology can improve the property of each and everything since we work at very small level of each and every thing.

        Now i am going to talk about the application of this field which u all also be eager to now after such a marvalous description given by me. Now my dear friends the solar cells which you all know that convert solar energy into electrical energy this device has an efficiency of 5-10% to maximum hence cant be used as a reliable source of energy. But the nano technology can improve its efficiency by 40-50% which means that if we construct solar panels in 0.01% of the total earth surface than we will able to supply energy to the entire earth without using any other source of energy. Now i am going to talk about the space travel we all know that how costly are they. It costs millions of dollars to an individual to the space. Nano technology again offers a solution that - we are required to make lift from the earth surface to the moon surface as we all know that moon completes its revolution in every 75 days around the earth it means that the poisition of lift and moon will meet after every 75 days. The basic problem is the rope which is going to carry the lift since the diameter of the rope increases as we increase the height of the lift but nano technology has an answer to this question ropes made of nano tubes are the solution guys there radius increase lesser in comparision to the ropes made of fiber hence this lift going to make the cost reduce of space traveling to moon about Rs.75 per head than what do u think about my words friends that isnt the nano technology the gate way to the modern world .
